Transform MS Research:

South West Impact of MS (SWIMS) study

SWIMS

The SWIMS study has been running since 2004, yes it is 21 next year! In that time over 1800 people with MS, who live in Devon and Cornwall, have provided data regarding the impact of their MS. This unique longitudinal dataset has been used in many ways to provide insights that have supported understanding of MS and ways to improve clinical care.

The engagement and the support of the SWIMS community has also enabled development of the PRO’s (Patient Reported Outcome Measures) that Transform MS license to support other MS research across the world. The license income being used to support the study and also local clinical care services.

In 2025 we will be holding celebrations to help celebrate the significant birthday for SWIMS and use this momentous occasion to help promote the use of the data collected to answer important questions for the MS community.
